Send your C-22 drawingWhy C-22 Is Specified
HASTELLOY® C-22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with tungsten that combines resistance to oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals with strong protection against pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking. Its relatively high chromium content is an important reason designers consider it for oxidizing media and chloride-bearing environments. Typical use includes chemical-process reactors, heat exchangers, columns and other equipment exposed to aggressive process streams.
When C-22 is chosen for corrosion performance, manufacturing must preserve the geometry and surface condition the design depends on. Scratches across a sealing land, embedded contamination, uncontrolled burrs in a flow path or a distorted gasket face can defeat the purpose of using an expensive corrosion-resistant alloy. AlloyAccu therefore treats dimensional control and surface integrity as linked requirements.

What Makes C-22 Machining Difficult
The machining challenges are familiar to engineers who work with high-nickel alloys: 快速加工硬化, high cutting forces, poor heat dissipation compared with common steels and strong sensitivity to tool condition. The safest process avoids dwelling and rubbing, maintains a stable chip, gets coolant to the cutting edge and does not ask a worn tool to finish a critical surface.

C-22 Parts and Features AlloyAccu Is Set Up For
Our strongest fit is not a simple block with loose tolerances; it is the part where nickel-alloy machining knowledge matters. Examples include valve bodies and trim, chemical manifolds, reactor fittings, mixer and spray components, pump parts, seal rings, instrument housings, pharmaceutical process hardware, flanges and pressure-system internals. High-risk features can include deep cavities, intersecting flow paths, narrow lands, precision O-ring grooves, flat sealing faces and multiple datum-controlled ports.
Surface Integrity and Cleanliness
For corrosion and high-purity process equipment, finish requirements are functional. AlloyAccu can combine machining with precision grinding/lapping, polishing or electropolishing where appropriate. We control handling and deburring so critical wetted surfaces are not needlessly damaged after final machining. If the drawing has Ra/Rz, edge-break, electropolish or cleanliness requirements, include them at RFQ stage so the manufacturing and inspection route can be planned together.
C-22 vs C-276
C-22 and C-276 overlap in many severe-corrosion applications, but they are not interchangeable by default. C-22 is notable for its high chromium content and performance in many oxidizing media, while both alloys offer strong localized-corrosion resistance in chloride-bearing service. C-276 is often selected as a broad, established chemical-service alloy. The correct choice depends on the actual process chemistry, temperature and contaminants — not on which grade is easier to buy or machine.
From AlloyAccu’s production perspective, both grades require similar nickel-alloy discipline. We can advise on manufacturability, material form and cost drivers; final corrosion selection remains an engineering-design decision.
Traceability and Verification
AlloyAccu can provide original MTRs, 熱量/批次可追溯性, CoC and final dimensional reports. CMM and optical inspection are used for complex geometry and datum relationships, and surface roughness can be verified where specified. PMI/OES and optional NDT can be incorporated based on contractual requirements.

C-22 machining answers
What is Hastelloy C-22 best known for?
It is known for resistance to oxidizing and non-oxidizing chemicals and strong protection against pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking, including chloride-bearing environments.
Is C-22 harder to machine than stainless steel?
是的. It work-hardens rapidly and concentrates heat at the cutting zone, so rigid setup, controlled chip load, coolant delivery and tool-life management are important.
Can AlloyAccu machine C-22 sealing faces and precision bores?
是的, subject to drawing review. We plan finishing after major stress-producing operations and can verify critical geometry by CMM and roughness measurement.
Do you support electropolishing or other finishing?
是的. Finishing options can include grinding, 研磨, 拋光, electropolishing and other project-specific processes.
Do you provide C-22 material traceability?
是的. 捷運, heat/lot tracking and CoC can be supplied, with PMI/OES on request.
